ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Some rain at last!!

On the sea today an Edier, 30 Common Scoter, a Fulmar, 2 Gannets, 11 Little Terns, 53 Sandwich Terns, and 5 Common Terns were counted. Waders included 4 Whimbrel, 120 Curlew, 7 Black and 7 Bar-tailed Godwits, 3 Green Sandpipers and 2 Golden Plover still in summer plumage. A Turtle Dove was on the NWT reserve and 9 Sand Martins and 30+ Swallows passed through during the day.
 
A good catch of 75 species of moths included 6 Garden Tigers, 14 Straw Dots, 7 Dingy Footmen, Garden Pebble, 4 Small Fan-footed Waves, 2 Rosy Rustics, 5 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 6 Turnips, 14 Rustics, Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Small Waved Umbers, 3 Tree Lichen Beauties, 2 Single Dotted Waves, Rosy Footman, 4 Flame Shoulders, Scalloped Oak, 5 Least Yellow Underwings, 2 Yellow Tails, Scarce Footman, 3 Common Rustics, 2 Dagger agg, Sharp-angled Peacock, 2 Poplar Hawk Moths, Shaded Broad-bar, Rush Veneer, 2 Drinkers, 8 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, Small Elephant Hawk, Rusty-dot Pearl, 2 Uncertain, 2 Cloaked Minors, Cabbage, Chinese Character, Southern Wainscot, Treble Brown Spot, Lesser Yellow Underwing, 3 White Points, 3 White-lined Darts, Small Square Spot, Twin-spotted Wainscot, Mother of Pearl, Spectacle, 2 Dark Arches, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Nutmegs, Lime-speck Pug, Archer's Dart, Flounced Rustic, Straw Underwing, Knot Grass, Common Carpet, Common Wainscot and a Coast Dart.
