Some migrants remained today with a Pied Flycatcher showing
near the Observatory in the morning and a Spotted Flycatcher in the forestry
during the afternoon. At least 2 Whinchats were also in the dunes. Other birds
of interest were 2 Great White Egrets, 4 Spoonbills, Whimbrel, 46 Black-tailed
Godwits, 2 Greenshank, a Kingfisher, 21 Swallows, 10 Willow Warblers, a Garden
Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 5 Stonechats and a Grey Wagtail.
In the moth traps today a Dingy Footman, Chinese Character,
2 Rosy Rustics, 16 Square-spot Rustics, 17 Large Yellow Underwings, 6 Flounced
Rustics, 6 Archer's Darts, 2 Vine's Rustics, Frosted Orange, Nutmeg, Brown-spot
Pinion, 5 Setaceous Hebrew Character, Dark Sword-grass, Small Square-spot and
White-lined Dart have been recorded.
Butterflies included Wall Brown, Red Admiral and Painted
