Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 7th September 2022

Fairly strong SW wind so not great for ringing, only 4 birds caught; 1 Woodpigeon, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Reed Warbler and 1 Cetti's Warbler. Most passerines hiding in the pines behind the Obs where it was sheltered from the wind including one Pied Flycatcher, one Spotted Flycatcher and several Chiffs. Good passage of Swallows and House Martins in the morning all heading west plus 2 Swifts. An Osprey drifted west along the beach in the morning. On the sea 4 Pintail went west and a Great White Egret went east!

Moth traps were fairly quiet with 58 individuals of 22 species. Highlights were 1 Red Underwing, 1 Feathered Gothic, 1 Rusty-dot Pearl and 1 Flounced Orange.
