ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 24th September 2022

A day of increasing north easterly winds, the sea was rather quiet with 3 Gannets, a Great Crested Grebes and a Common Tern passing during the morning. Also of interest were 58 Black-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank, Kingfisher, 4 Swallows, 2 Blackcaps, 4 Redpolls and a Brambling also seen during the day.

In the moth traps 5 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, 2 Rosy Rustics, Setaceous Hebrew Character, Straw Dot, 25 Lunar Underwings, 7 Beaded Chestnuts, 6 Square-spot Rustics, a Deep Brown Dart and a Large Wainscot were caught.
