A day of light easterly winds with a fall of migrants arriving in the afternoon. Highlights were a Wryneck seen near the paddocks, 8 Chiffchaffs, 15 Willow Warblers, 4 Blackcaps, 6+ Garden Warblers, 5 Lesser Whitethroats, 4 Whitethroats, 3 Spotted Flycatchers, 12+ Pied Flycatchers, 12 Redstarts, 14 Whinchats, 14 Stonechats, 5 Wheatears and Yellow Wagtail. Also of interest were 10 Gannets, 4 Kittiwakes, 20 Sandwich and 2 Little Terns offshore, 120 Black-tailed Godwits, Common and Green Sandpiper, Greenshank, Kingfisher, 40+ Swallows and 15 House Martins.
In the moth traps 2 Green Carpets, 12 Archer's Darts, 8 Square-spot Rustics, 11 Flounced Rustics, 4 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 23 Large Yellow Underwings, Dark Sword-grass, 2 Rosy Rustics, Large Wainscot, 7 Small Square Spots, Flame Shoulder, 2 Yellow Belles, Rusty Dot Pearl, 2 Vine's Rustics, Turnip, Silver Y and 3 White-lined Darts were caught, with a Plain Wave of particular interest.
Comma, Painted Lady, Common and Holly Blue were among the butterflies.
