ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 2nd September 2022

On the sea today 2 Eider, 160 Common Scoter, 11 Gannets, 2 Great Crested Grebes, an Arctic Skua, 2 Little Terns, 9 Sandwich Terns and 2 Common Terns were noted. Common and Green Sandpiper were around the Broadwater with 120+ Black-tailed Godwits also counted. A Hobby was hunting, and 7 Chiffchaffs, 3 Willow Warblers, 2 Blackcaps, a Garden Warbler, 6 Whitethroats, a Whinchat, 12+ Stonechats, 2 Wheatears and a Grey Wagtail were also recorded around the reserves and the dunes. At the Observatory 2+ Pied Flycatchers were present with at least one seen on and off throughout the day.

Moths included 12 Large Yellow Underwings, 3 White-lined Darts, 3 Vine's Rustics, 3 Turnips, 8 Archer's Darts, a Webb's Wainscot, 7 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 3 Small Square Spots, 6 Square-spot Rustics, 3 Flounced Rustics, Yellow Belle, 2 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings and a White Point.
