ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 1st September 2022

On the sea today 55 Wigeon, 20 Teal, 48 Common Scoter, 10 Gannets, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Arctic Skuas, 9 Little and 54 Sandwich Terns were recorded. A flock of 270 Black-tailed Godwits were on the Broadwater with 5 Dunlin and a Green Sandpiper also noted. Also of interest were a Peregrine, Willow Warbler and a single Wheatear.
 
Moths today included 3 Silver Y, 2 Turnips, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 8 Archer’s Darts, 9 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 2 Vine’s Rustics, 2 Square-spot Rustics, Spectacle, 2 White Points, 6 Flounced Rustics, 5 Small Square Spots, Angle Shades, Rosy Rustic, Shore Wainscot, 2 White-lined Darts, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing. A Humming-bird Hawk Moth put in a brief appearance.

Norfolk Hooded Crow ad still Warham Greens in pig field near coast path viewable from Cocklestrand Drove at 10.47am. Access from Garden Drove; keep to footpaths TF.945.435
MEGA Norfolk ELEONORA'S FALCON 1s.dark morph Waxham flew south over Money Lane at 9.48am
Norfolk Long-tailed Skua Cley NWT flew west past Coastguards at 7.48am
