ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 11th September 2022

At least 4 Spoonbills were around the Broadwater during the day and 2 Water Rails were heard, with a Whimbrel, Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Barn Owl, 8 Chiffchaffs, 4 Willow Warblers, Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Whitethroats, 4 Reed Warblers, 3 Whinchats, 5 Stonechats and 2 Grey Wagtails also of interest.
 
Moths in the traps today included a Light Emerald, 2 Willow Beauty, Small Blood-vein, 3 Lesser Yellow Underwings, 3 Kent Black Arches, 4 Large Yellow Underwings, 11 Square-spot Rustics, Pink-barred Sallow, 2 Ferns, 2 Flounced Rustics and 2 Small Square-spots.
 
A Willow Emerald Damselfly was rescued from the Heligoland trap and butterflies included Small Copper, Comma, Wall Brown, Common Blue and Small Heath.
