ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 18th September 2022

Another day of strong north westerlies, highlights were 474 Pink-feet, and at sea 3 Brents, 78 Teal, 13 Pintail, drake Tufted Duck, 25 Common Scoter, 2 Red-throated Divers, 21 Gannets, Shag, Great Crested Grebe, 2 Pom Skuas, 13 Arctic Skuas, 1 Bonxie, 1 Guillemot east, 2 Common and 2 Sandwich Terns. Also of interest were 240 Black-tailed Godwits, Greenshank, Barn Owl, 3 Chiffchaffs, Blackcap, Stonechat and a Raven on the grazing marsh mid-afternoon.

In the moth traps Rush Veneer, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, Small Dusty Wave, Large Wainscot, 8 Small Square Spots, Willow Beauty, Large Yellow Underwing, Vine's Rustic, Small Blood Vein, Turnip, Shore Wainscot, Lunar Underwing.
