ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 19th September 2022

A quieter day with winds dropping, highlights were 786 Pink-footed Geese, 5 Brents, 6 Common Scoter, 1 Gannet, 2 Spoonbills, a Great Crested Grebe, 60 Golden Plover, 146 Black-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank, 6 Snipe, 3 Sandwich Terns, 2 Kingfishers on the edge of the Broadwater, 12 Swallows and 6 House Martins feeding around the pines.

In the moth traps a Brown-spot Pinion, 3 Lunar Underwings, 8 Square Spot Rustics, 1 Beaded Chestnut, 1 Green Carpet, a Large Yellow Underwing and 2 Large Wainscots.

Butterflies included Speckled Wood, Large White, Red Admiral, Small Copper and Wall Brown.
