ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 22nd September 2022

On the sea today 17 Eider and 50 Common Scoters were of note, with a Great White Egret, 7 Spoonbills, an Avocet, 149 Black-tailed Godwits, 8 Snipe, a Kingfisher, Hobby, 15 Swallows, 20 House Martins, a female Redstart and a Grey Wagtail the highlights.

In the moth traps 51 Lunar Underwings, 11 Beaded Chestnuts, a Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, a Silver Y, 2 Large Wainscots, a Gold Spot, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 5 Square-spot Rustics, a Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Feathered Ranunculus, a Lesser Yellow Underwing and a Willow Beauty were caught.

Dragonflies included 20 Common Darters, 12 Migrant Hawkers and 2 Willow Emerald Damselflies.
