ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 22nd October 2022

 
On the sea today a drake Eider flew west, 3 Red-throated Divers, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Razorbills and 7 Guillemots were counted, with 4 Little Gulls also recorded. A female Waxwing was reported on the NWT in the afternoon and a Cattle Egret was seen from hide 2. Also of interest were 250 Golden Plover, 30 Black-tailed Godwits, 5 Red Kites, 2 Great White Egrets, 4 Blackcaps, 35 Goldcrests, 3 Stonechats, 2 Rock Pipits and 7 Siskins.
 
In the moth traps 5 Large Yellow Underwings, 4 Large Wainscots, 2 White Points, a Turnip and a Vine's Rustic were caught. A Humming-bird Hawk Moth was behind the Observatory mid afternoon.
 
One Red Admiral was still on the wing.
