ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 16th October 2022

Another sunny day with a brisk wind, 3 Whooper Swans came in off the sea and were still present at Gore Point in the afternoon.On the sea 8 Eider, 14 Common Scoter, a Red-breasted Merganser, 8 Red-throated Divers, a Gannet, an Arctic Tern, 50+ Guillemots and 7 Razorbills. Waders included a Black-tailed Godwit, Greenshank and 37 Golden Plover. Other birds of note included a Swallow, 3 Stonechats, 2 Grey Wagtails, 2 Rock Pipits, 5 Bullfinches, 16 Siskins and 6 Reed Buntings.
 
Moths were scarce with just 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Narrow-winged Greys, 2 Lunar Underwings and 2 Shuttle-shaped Darts in the traps today.
