ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 9th October 2022

Some visual migration was noted early morning with 4+ Bearded Tits, 4 Cetti's Warblers, Blackcap, 4 Song Thrushes, 2 Stonechats, 60+ Meadow Pipits, 3 Rock Pipits, 2 Bramblings, 6 Redpoll, 12 Siskins and 6 Reed Buntings recorded. Also of interest today were 7 Snow Buntings on the beach and 2 Jack Snipe from NWT hide 1. A Barn Owl was hunting at first light.
 
In the moth traps 4 Large Yellow Underwings, 4 Narrow-winged Greys, 3 Feathered Ranunculus, 4 Large Wainscots, a Setaceous Hebrew Character and 3 Lunar Underwings were caught.
 
Butterflies were still on the wing with 2 Small Coppers, 2 Wall Browns, a Speckled Wood, Red Admiral and Small and Large Whites seen during the day.
