ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 10th October 2022

Rain before dawn brought down about 30 Redwings in the pines and 10+ Song Thrushes were present but many birds cleared out when weather lifted. Of interest around the reserves were a Great White Egret west over the back of the marsh, Red Kite, Water Rail, 124 Golden Plover, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, Greenshank, 2 Jack Snipe were at NWT hide 1 until at least mid morning, 4 Blackcaps were trapped and ringed, 4 Stonechats were noted and 16 Meadow Pipits, 7 Rock Pipits, a Brambling and 4 Siskins were also of interest.
 
In the moth traps 8 Large Yellow Underwings, 4 Lunar Underwings, 2 Feathered Ranunculus, 2 Large Wainscots, a White Point, 3 Beaded Chestnuts and a Black Rustic were caught.
