ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Tuesday 11th October 2022

A clear night with a full moon, few migrants were noted during the day but a Greenshank was on the Broadwater, 2 Tawny Owls were calling during the day, a Kingfisher was active and 4+ Bearded Tits were pinging in the reeds. A Wheatear appeared on the east bank late afternoon and 3 Mistle Thrushes, 4 Stonechats, 2+ Tree Sparrows, a Siskin, 100+ Meadow Pipits and 10 Rock Pipits were also of interest.
 
In the moth traps 5 Large Yellow Underwings, 8 Eudonia angustea, 5 Large Yellow Underwings, 3 Large Wainscots, 2 Feathered Ranunculus and a Beaded Chestnut were caught.
