Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 19th October 2022

With the strong Easterly winds arriving as expected, the day started with the arrival of migrant birds such as Redwing, Blackbird, Robin and Goldcrest. A Woodcock was flushed during the first net round and later in the morning a Water pipit appeared briefly on the East Bank. Yellow-browed Warblers were found in NWT carpark, the Dunes and near Redwell Marsh. Three Short-eared Owls were seen arriving over the sea. The moth traps were quiet with only 5 Large Wainscot, 3 Large Yellow Underwings and a White Point caught.
