Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 26th October 2022

A blustery and mild day. A pair of Goosander flew west over the pines and 4 Red Kites drifted through, 600+ Golden Plover, 7 Black-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank and 5 Snipe were also of interest, with 11 Bearded Tits at Thornham Sluice and 3 Stonechats, 2 Rock Pipits and 15 Siskins also noted.

Moths were very limited in the rough conditions with a Rush Veneer, 4 Large Wainscots, 3 Large Yellow Underwings and a White Point the only species caught, and a Humming-bird Hawk moth disappearing eastwards in the afternoon.
