ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 24th October 2022

On the sea today a drake Eider, 5 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Gannets, a Great Crested Grebe and a single Guillemot were seen. A Cattle Egret was on the edge of the Broadwater and flew off west, with Great White Egret and 10 Little Egrets also seen. Also of interest were 3 Water Rails, a Kingfisher, 3 Bearded Tits, a Chiffchaff, male Blackcap, 4 Stonechats, 3 Rock Pipits and a Redpoll. A Marsh Tit was seen on the feeders at the Richardson Hide.

In the moth traps 12 Large Wainscots, a Lunar Underwing, 9 Large Yellow Underwings, a Silver Y, Beaded Chestnut and Turnip were caught.
