ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 16th April 2023

Two Cattle Egrets were seen on Park Piece early morning and then flew off towards Holme Marshes. Also of interest were a single Whimbrel over calling, 14 Black-tailed Godwits, a Barn Owl, 2 Swallows, 8 Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcaps, 3 Whitethroats, 5 Sedge Warblers, 2 Stonechats, 3 Yellow Wagtails flying over and a Brambling in the pines.

In the moth traps 8 Hebrew Characters, an Early Thorn, a Small Quaker, Powdered Quaker and Common Quaker were caught, with a further 5 Emperors hatching, and 5 Brimstone butterflies, 2 Peacocks and a Speckled Wood also seen.
