ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 17th April 2023

Sixty Pink-feet flew west and 2 Common Cranes flew over west in the afternoon. Also of interest were a Whimbrel, 62 Curlew, a Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Ruff, the first Cuckoo was seen and heard in the dunes, 2 Barn Owls and a female Merlin were seen hunting, a Firecrest was in the pines, single Swallow and House Martin were recorded and 11 Chiffchaffs, 2 Willow Warblers, 5 Blackcaps, 2 Sedge Warblers, 2 Redwings, 2 Stonechats, 2 Wheatears, 4 Redpolls and a Siskin were also noted.

A female Emperor was in the moth traps together with a Small Quaker, 7 Hebrew Characters and an Agonopetrix alstromeriana.

Green Hairstreak, Brimstone, Speckled Wood, Green-veined and Small White were recorded.
