In the moths traps a Privet, Pine, Poplar and Eyed Hawk Moth were of interest, and Green Hairstreak, Common Blue, Brown Argus, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown, Red Admiral, Painted Lady and Large Skipper were all recorded during the day. A Hairy Hawker dragonfly was also seen feeding among the pines at the west end of the reserve.
Walsey Hills proved to be particularly quiet, with a freshly hatched brood of 8 Tufted Ducks probably the highlight! Chiffchaffs, Common Whitethroats, Reed Warblers and Blackcaps were singing and butterfly interest was limited to several Speckled Woods, a Red Admiral and Wall Brown.
