ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Hempton Moth Day, Saturday 23rd July 2016

A big thankyou to everyone who attended the moth day at Hempton today, and to Gary and David for their help in running and setting up the event. A total of 69 species were recorded including45 Clouded Borders, 9 Poplar Hawk Moths, 8 Antler Moths, 2 July Highfliers, a Crescent, a Flame Carpet, a Large Emerald, 2 Dingy Shears, Lesser Cream Wave, Bordered Beauty, Rosy Footman, Small Seraphim, and Rush Veneer. Moth of the day was a Square-spotted Clay.

Those species identified after the event were Evergestis pallidata, Hedya salicella, Plum Tortrix, Aethes rubigana, and Epinotia demarniana.
