A calm and cloudy morning with a mild easterly breeze gave way to a hot and sunny afternoon. Several Kestrels, Buzzards and Marsh Harriers were seen out over the marsh, 2 Green Woodpeckers were present in the pines and the Great Spotted Woodpecker remained. Two juvenile Stonechats were present near the Dell Hide, neither with a ring - so different birds to those previously caught on the 6th of August.
A single Holly Blue was again present around the Buddleias as were 2 Painted Ladies; a Wall Brown was seen around the Observatory building. Black Arches, Garden Tiger and Fen Wainscot were enjoyed from the moth traps whilst micros included Saltmarsh Plume,
Platytes alpinella and
Clavigesta purdeyi.
