ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

A mixed day weather wise but some bird activity was recorded; on the sea a female Eider, 100+ Common Scoters, 4 Fulmars, 6 Manx Shearwaters, 54 Gannets, 3 Arctic Skuas, 30+ Sandwich Terns, and 35 Common Terns were counted, while on the NWT reserve a Little Stint, 4 Green Sandpipers, a Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank and 20 Snipe were of note. At the NOA reserve a Tawny Owl was calling from the pines, and a Cetti's Warbler was calling west of Thornham Sluice.
