Saturday 3rd September 2016

A bright start with wet weather moving in during the morning, there was little in the way of migration, with birds of note including a first year male Common Scoter on the bank of the Broadwater, 50 Swallows and 50 House Martins moving ahead of the weather front, and a Whinchat and 3 Stonechats on the grazing marsh south of the Observatory.

At Walsey Hills migrants present included 3 Lesser Whitethroat, 10 Chiffchaffs, 5 Blackcaps and Willow Warbler whilst 11 Teal and 8 Common Snipe were on Snipe's Marsh. On the NWT 3 Wood Sandpiper, Little Stint and Pectoral Sandpiper were noted and a Spoonbill flew west in the morning.
