A superb day for migrants with a Dusky Warbler trapped and ringed, together with a Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Cetti's Warblers, a Mealy Redpoll, a Siskin and a Bearded Tit among 50 birds of 17 species. Of note around the reserve a Pallas' Warbler still present, a Lesser Whitethroat, 30 Fieldfares, a Black and a Common Redstart, 4 Stonechats along Thornham sea wall, and 6 Bramblings flying over calling. 8 Waxwings were also seen.
Chairman Steve Newman captured this pic of the bird in the hand. This was only the second ringing record of Dusky Warbler at Holme Bird Obs, the previous record dating back to 9th November 1968.
