REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 18th July 2021

A Cattle Egret was showing from the first NWT hide from late morning, and 2 Spoonbills, 2 Great White Egrets and a Greenshank were also of interest.
 
A bumper catch of moths, 99 species in total, included 4 Beautiful Hook-tip, 20 Brown Tail, 7 Early Thorn, Common Emerald, 5 Dwarf Cream Wave, 3 Small Emerald, 2 Small Elephant Hawk Moth, 38 Common Footman, 4 Cinnabar, 10 Rosy Footman, Small Magpie, 15 Haworth's Pug, White-line Dart, 3 Single Dotted Wave, 3 Fen Wainscot, 7 Pine Hawk, 2 Privet Hawk, 2 Lyme Grass, 4 Oak Eggar, 7 Uncertain, Lesser Cream Wave, 3 Swallowtail, 8 Mottled Rustic, Cloaked Minor, Turnip, White Point, Common Rustic, July Highflier, Latticed Heath, 2 Small Scallop, 7 Rustic, Lilac Beauty, Dark Arches, 3 Garden Tiger, 2 Peppered Moth, 2 Grey Dagger agg, Sharp-angled Peacock, 6 Yellow-tail, 4 Ruby Tiger, 4 Smoky Wainscot, 6 Drinker, Willow Beauty, Double-striped Pug, Wormwood Pug, 2 Round-winged Muslin, Poplar Grey, 3 Small Fan-footed Wave, 6 Scarce Footman, Leopard, 2 Archer's Dart, Riband Wave, Light Arches, Double Square-spot, Fan-foot, Scalloped Oak, Flame, 2 Buff Ermine, Yarrow Pug, Dusky Plume, Lychnis, Meal Moth, Pyrausta purpuralis, Phalonidia manniana, and Vitula biviella.
