On the sea today 63 Sandwich and 8 Common Terns were recorded with 2 Gannets also seen. Three Great White Egrets were of interest and 2 Whimbrel, 25 Curlew and a Green Sandpiper were present. A Hobby was hawking over the pines in the afternoon, with a juvenile Stonechat seen in the dunes.
Moth highlights today were 8 Rosy Footman, 3 Pine Hawk Moth, 6 Cinnabar, 34 Common Footman, 5 Barred Straw, 3 Small Magpie, 2 Buff Arches, 3 Privet Hawk, Brown Rustic, Cloaked Minor, Small Elephant Hawk, 2 Common Emerald, Swallowtail, 2 Large Yellow Underwing, 4 Mottled Rustic, 7 Rustic, Buff Ermine, 3 Dwarf Cream Wave, Kent Black Arches, Clouded Border, Brown-tail, White Satin, Middle-barred Minor, Yellow-tail, Eyed Hawk, Least Carpet, 3 Haworth's Pug, Bordered White, 2 Clay, Buff-tip, Small Emerald, 8 Scarce Footman, Fern, 7 Uncertain, 3 Ruby Tiger, Double-striped Pug, Smoky Wainscot, July Highflier, 2 Flame, Riband Wave, White-line Dart, Dark Arches, Poplar Grey, Round-winged Muslin, Striped Wainscot, Shoulder-striped Wainscot, Mere Wainscot, and 3 Brown Plume.
Butterflies included Gatekeeper, Small Skipper, Ringlet, Red Admiral and Meadow Brown, with Common Darter and Blue-tailed Damselfly also noted.
