ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 24th July 2021

A Spoonbill flew west mid afternoon and a Black Redstart was near the west entrance at the start of the day, seen later on the NWT reserve. Two Green Sandpipers, a Black-tailed Godwit and a Greenshank were on the edge of the Broadwater. Two Stonechats were in the dunes, and a Hobby was hunting over the grazing marsh.

Moths included 20 Scarce Footman, 3 Garden Tiger, 10 Ruby Tiger, 4 Yellow-tail, a Least Carpet, 6 Cloaked Minor, an Ear Moth agg, 2 Clay, 6 Rustic, a Shuttle-shaped Dart, 10 Common Footman, 3 Pine Hawks, 2 Dingy Footman, 11 Brown-tail, 3 Knot Grass, a Poplar Hawk, 5 Smoky Wainscot, 2 Mottled Rustic, a Fen Wainscot, Southern Wainscot, 2 Uncertain, Dark Arches, Archer's Dart, Silver Y and Large Yellow Underwing.
