ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 14th July 2021

 
On the sea today 450 Common Scoter were offshore, and 5 Fulmars, 6 Gannets, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Arctic Skuas, 102 Sandwich Terns, 4 Common Terns, a Little Tern and 5 Kittiwakes were seen. A party of 7 Spoonbills were of interest, and a Great White Egret was also present, with a Grasshopper Warbler reeling near the NOA Car Park.
 
Moths included 7 Cinnabars, 3 Least Carpet, 3 Small Dusty Wave, Willow Beauty, 2 Uncertain, Small Magpie, 16 Common Footman, Short-cloaked Moth, Garden Tiger, 7 Brown-tail, Sand Dart, Dark Arches, 3 Haworth's Pug, Round-winged Muslin, Flame, 2 Buff Ermine, 2 Poplar Hawk, 2 Rosy Footman, Common Wave, Scarce Footman, Silky Wainscot, 2 Lyme Grass, Buff-tip, Archer's Dart, Drinker, 2 Privet Hawk, 2 Barred Straw, Pine Hawk, Yellow-tail, Dwarf Cream Wave, 10 Rustic, Oak Eggar, 2 Scalloped Oak, White-line Dart, Large Yellow Underwing, Mottled Rustic, Sharp-angled Peacock, 3 Smoky Wainscot, Turnip, Single Dotted Wave, Small Emerald and a Rosy Minor.
Butterflies included Small Copper, Painted Lady and Gatekeeper.
