ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Highlights today included a summer plumage Great Crested Grebe on the sea, 48 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Greenshank on the beach.

Moths today were 2 Riband Wave, 13 Scarce Footman, 6 Dingy Footman, 2 Canary Shouldered Thorn, 4 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, 2 Southern Wainscot, 7 Garden Tiger, 11 Flounced Rustic, 2 Rosy Rustic, Willow Beauty, Sharp-angled Peacock, 2 Dusky Sallow, 14 Yellow-tail, 9 White-line Dart, 4 Garden Pebble, 2 Pale Prominent, Oak Eggar, Rusty-dopt Pearl, 4 Straw Underwing, 4 Shaded Broad-bar, 12 Drinker, Knot Grass, Common Carpet, 2 Ruby Tiger, 4 White Ermine, 8 Cloaked Minor, 3 Large Yellow Underwing, 2 Straw Dot, 2 Small Waved Umber, Archer's Dart, 3 Shuttle-shaped Dart, Rosy Minor, Rustic, Rush Veneer, 3 Common Rustic, Brown-line Bright-eye, 2 Single Dotted Wave, 2 Brown-veined Wainscot, Small Fan-footed Wave, Fen Wainscot and Purple Bar. 

Around the reserve Small Copper, Brown Argus, Painted Lady, Red Admiral, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown and Large and Small White were counted.
