ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 6th August 2021

 A day of sunshine and heavy showers with a strong south breeze, on the sea today a Great Crested Grebe flew west, 2 Little Terns, 22 Sandwich Terns and 127 Common Terns were around the beach with 5 Arctic Skuas and 3 Brent Geese on the shoreline, while around the reserves 2 Whimbrel and 13 Black-tailed Godwits were of note. A Great White Egret was on the Broadwater.
 
Moths included 4 Garden Tigers, 4 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Rustic, 4 Least Yellow Underwing, a Southern Wainscot, 2 Common Rustic, 3 Straw Underwing, 3 Yellow-tail, 8 Scarce Footman, Swallow Prominent, Early Thorn, White Satin Moth, Coxcomb Prominent, Red Twin-spot Carpet, an Ear sp, 4 Silver Y, Smoky Wainscot, 4 Flounced Rustic, Kent Black Arches, Mottled Rustic, Turnip, Ruby Tiger, Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Shuttle-shaped Dart, Cloaked Minor, Large Yellow Underwing, Flame Shoulder, Archer’s Dart, Rosy Minor and Pine Hawk Moth.
