ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 5th August 2021

 A Garganey was on the Broadwater early afternoon and on the sea 36 Common Scoter and 2 Fulmars were counted, with 45 Gannets, 8 Little Terns, 35 Sandwich and 15 Common Terns fishing offshore, and a Greenshank in off the sea. Also of interest were 2 Whimbrel, 3 Snipe, and a Red Kite.
 
Moths were modest but included 12 Scarce Footman, 2 Dingy Footman, Swallow Prominent, Least Carpet, 3 Rustic, 6 Drinker, 7 Garden Tiger, Small Waved Umber, 6 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Yellow-tail, Pebble Prominent, 3 Common Footman, 2 Flounced Rustic, 2 Ruby Tiger, Archer's Dart, Dark Arches, 3 Smoky Wainscot, Pine Hawk, Rosy Minor, 2 Knot Grass, Small Blood-vein, Buff Ermine, Cloaked Minor, Small Fan-footed Wave, Tree-lichen Beauty, Oak Eggar and Red Twin-spot Carpet.
