ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 24th September 2021

On the sea today 7 Eider, 20 Common Scoter, 14+ Red-throated Divers, 59 Gannets, 12 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Pom and 3 Arctic Skuas, 16 Guillemots, 7 Sandwich and 2 Common Terns were recorded. Over 225 Pink-feet came in during the day, and 22 Black-tailed Godwits were on the Broadwater. A Redstart was in the paddocks, and a Raven flew over the grazing marsh early morning with the Cattle Egret also seen.
 
In the moth traps a Flounced Rustic, 5 Large Wainscot, Rusty Dot Pearl, 3 Vine’s Rustic, 10 Square-spot Rustic, 6 Feathered Ranunculus, 7 Lunar Underwing, 4 Large Yellow Underwing, 2 Sallow, 4 White-line Dart, Common Marbled Carpet, Snout, Dingy Footman, Beaded Chestnut, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Frosted Orange, Blood Vein, Brown Spot Pinion, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Character and a Willow Beauty were recorded.
