REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 25th September 2021

On the sea today 300 Common Scoter, 2 Red-throated Divers, 4 Gannets, 16 Great Crested Grebes and 2 Guillemots were seen. Three Spoonbills, 2 Great White Egrets, 8 Snipe, 2 Water Rails, Barn Owl, Kingfisher, 2 Redstarts and a Brambling were also recorded.
 
Moths today included 2 Snout, 7 Large Yellow Underwing, 8 Square-spot Rustic, 2 Broad Bordered Yellow Underwing, 5 Feathered Ranunculus, 4 Large Wainscot, 4 Willow Beauty, Dingy Footman, 2 Brimstone, Pinion-streaked Snout, Archer's Dart, 8 Lunar Underwing, 3 Shore Wainscot, 2 White-line Dart, Black Rustic, Brown-spot Pinion, 2 Smoky Wainscot, Common Marbled Carpet, Beaded Chestnut, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Character, Turnip and Gold Spot.
 
A Pale Tussock Moth caterpillar was on the ringing shed.
