ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 26th September 2021

On the sea today 38 Brent Geese, a Wigeon, 16 Teal, 151 Common Scoter, 3 Red-throated Divers, 81 Gannets, 9 Great Crested Grebes, Razorbill, 3 Guillemots, 14 Sandwich Terns and 1900 Oystercatchers were noted. A Purple Sandpiper was seen at Gore Point, and a flock of 17 Whooper Swans flew west low over the grazing marsh. Also of interest were 3 Water Rails, 44 Black-tailed Godwits, a Spotted Redshank east, 19 Jays passing over, a Sedge Warbler, 4 Reed Warblers, 3 Rock Pipits, 60 Meadow Pipits and 3 Siskins.
 
Todays moths were a Brimstone, 2 Vine's Rustic, 18 Square-spot Rustic, 12 Lunar Underwing, a Brown-spot Pinion, 3 Feathered Ranunculus, a Box Moth, 5 Willow Beauty, Diamond-back, 2 Common Marbled Carpet, Pink-barred Sallow, 4 Large Yellow Underwing, 3 Beaded Chestnut, 2 Black Rustic, Shore Wainscot, 3 Large Wainscot, Smoky Wainscot, Straw Dot and Gold Spot.
