ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 4th September 2021

Highlights today were a Pied Flycatcher still present, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 4 Stonechats, a Yellow Wagtail over calling, both Hobby and Peregrine on the south side of the marsh, Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, 15 Black-tailed Godwits, and at sea 15 Common Scoter, a Red-throated Diver, Arctic Skua and 25 Sandwich Terns were counted. A Barn Owl was hunting early morning and 2 Great White Egrets were of interest.
 
Moths were abundant, with 2 Nutmeg, 30 Archer's Darts, 18 Vine's Rustic, 3 Silver Y, 3 Green Carpet, 5 White Point, 21 White-line Dart, 11 Flounced Rustic, 17 Square-spot Rustic, 4 Common Wainscot, 19 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 4 Flame Shoulder, 2 Fern, Light Emerald, 4 Large Yellow Underwing, Frosted Orange, 2 Spectacle, 4 Small Square-spot, 2 Turnip and a Shuttle-shaped Dart.
