ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 2nd September 2021

Some autumn migrants turning up with 3+ Pied Flycatchers (two caught during ringing), a Redstart along the east bank, a Garganey in front of the Car Park Hide, Spoonbill at Thornham, Common Sandpiper and Greenshank around the Broadwater, a Wheatear was on the NWT and a juvenile Long-tailed Skua was reported offshore at 12.45.
 
Butterflies included Common Blue, Brown Argus, and Small Copper. A Small Red-eyed Damselfly was on the east bank in the morning. Moths included 2 Garden Pebble, 8 White-line Dart, 7 Flounced Rustic, 7 Archer’s Dart, 2 Square-spot Rustic, 3 Flame Shoulder, Burnished Brass, 6 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Small Square-spot, Yellow Belle, Green Carpet, Vapourer, 4 Vine’s Rustic, 3 Turnip, White-point, Nutmeg, Large Yellow Underwing and Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing.
