ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 27th March 2022

There was no sign of the Black Redstart today, but on the grazing marshes 7 Golden Plover and a Black-tailed Godwit were present, 2 Water Rails were calling from the reeds, and 2 Tawny Owls were heard during the morning. Also of interest were 10 Chiffchaffs, a male Blackcap singing, and a flock of 10 Bramblings in the pines.

The moth traps contained a Pale Pinion, Shoulder Stripe, March Tubic, Twin-spotted Wainscot, Red Chestnut, Clouded Drab, 3 Hebrew Characters, a Small Quaker and a Great Diving Beetle.
