ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 23rd April 2022

A quiet day with very strong north-easterlies. A flock of over 200 Brent Geese was still on the marsh and 6 Sandwich Terns were passing west offshore. Lesser and Common Whitethroat were singing on the reserve.

In the moth traps a Small Waved Umber, Small Quaker, 2 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 2 Muslin, 2 Northern Drab, Common Quaker, Flame Shoulder, 2 Powdered Quakers and another female Emperor hatched. Butterflies included Green Hairstreak, Small Copper and Wall Brown.
