ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Friday 13th May 2022

A breezy day but with pleasant sunshine. A few Swifts continued to move during the day and a Yellow Wagtail flew over calling. 

In the moth traps a Red Twin-spot Carpet, 5 Muslins, a Small Elephant Hawk Moth, 3 Treble Lines, Setaceous Hebrew Character, 5 Shuttle-shaped Darts, an Eyed Hawk Moth, Pine Hawk Moth, Knot Grass, Nutmeg, 5 Flame Shoulders, Spectacle, Hebrew Character, Northern Drab, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet and the highlight was an Orange Footman (pictured).


Butterflies included Brown Argus, Small Copper, Green Hairstreak and Wall Brown.
