ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Monday 16th May 2022

A Spoonbill flew west and  2 Whimbrel, 3 Common Sandpipers, 17 Little Terns, 42 Sandwich Terns, 3 Turtle Doves, 5 Cuckoo, 5 Swifts, 4 Sand Martins, 10 Swallows, 6 House Martins, 4 Cetti's Warblers, 6 Chiffchaffs, 3 Blackcaps, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 12 Whitethroats, 6 Sedge and 2 Reed Warblers, 4 Stonechats, 6 Wheatears, 4 Yellow Wagtails were also noted.

In the moth traps an Emperor, 7 Small Elephant Hawks, a Pine Beauty, Angle Shades, 5 Flame Shoulders, 6 Treble Lines, Small Waved Umber, Brimstone, 2 Eyed Hawks, 2 Vine's Rustics, Nutmeg, Setaceous Hebrew Character, 3 Cinnabar, Poplar Hawk, 3 Shuttle-shaped Dart, Silver Y, 4 Muslin, Buff Tip, 2 Spectacle and 4 White Ermine were caught, and around the reserve 6 Wall, 10 Large and 2 Small White and a Green Hairstreak were among the butterflies seen.
