ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Tuesday 17th May 2022

A sunny day with increasing southerly breeze. A Short-eared Owl was seen circling high over lavender marsh early morning and a Hobby was also of note. Three Cuckoos, 6 Swallows, 5 Wheatears and 2 Yellow Wagtails were also of interest.

Moths today included Spruce Carpet, 2 Common Marbled Carpets, Tawny-barred Angle, 3 White Ermine, 4 Cinnabars, 7 Small Elephant Hawks, 2 Buff Tips, 3 Muslins, a Common Pug, 6 Treble Lines, 4 Vine's Rustics, a Small Waved Umber, 4 Flame Shoulders, 2 Northern Drabs, Pine Beauty, Privet Hawk, Mottled Rustic, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Sallow Kitten, White Point, Dog's Tooth, Angle-barred Pug and Grey Pine Carpet.

Butterflies included Common Blue, Green Hairstreak and a Painted Lady.
