ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 15th May 2022

Mainly breezy and overcast today, 2 Common Terns flew over the Broadwater and a Barn Owl was in the dunes. At the Observatory a Firecrest was in the pines during the morning and 8 Swallows, 2 Swifts, a House Martin, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 7 Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcaps, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 4 Whitethroats, a Grasshopper Warbler, 9 Sedge, 5 Reed Warblers, 2 Stonechats and 2 Yellow Wagtails were recorded.

Moths today included 2 Least Black Arches, a Small Waved Umber, 2 Pale Tussocks, a Knot Grass, 6 Treble Lines, a female Emperor, 6 Small Elephant Hawks, 3 Muslin, 3 Cinnabar, a White Ermine, Brimstone, 3 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Flame Shoulder, 2 Marbled Minor, Willow Beauty, Poplar Hawk and Silver Y.
