ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 21st May 2022

At sea today 11 Fulmars, 10 Great Crested Grebes, 88 Little Terns, 36 Sandwich Terns, 3 Common Terns and an immature Kittiwake were recorded. Three Spoonbills flew west over the marsh and a Hobby was seen from the NWT hides. Other birds of note included a Sand Martin, 5 Swallos and 4 House Martins and 25 Swifts.

In the moth traps a Marbled Brown, Coxcomb Prominent, 4 Cinnabars, 3 Buff Tips, a Poplar Kitten, Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Yellow Belle, 2 Fern, 2 White Ermine, a Light Emerald, Small Elephant Hawk, 2 Poplar Hawks, 2 Pine Hawks, a Vine's Rustic, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, Swallow Prominent.

Butterflies today included Green Hairstreak, Small Copper and Red Admiral.
