ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 7th May 2022

On the sea today 4 Fulmars, 5 Little Terns, 37 Sandwich Terns and a Common Tern were seen. Also of interest were 3 Red Kites, a Spotted Redshank, 3 Cuckoos, a Sand Martin, 2 Swallows, 5 Chiffchaffs, 4 Blackcaps, a Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Grasshopper Warblers, 9 Sedge Warblers, 6 Reed Warblers and 3 Yellow Wagtails. 

Moths included 3 Small Elephant Hawks, a Pine Hawk, Poplar Hawk, 3 Northern Drabs, a Least Black Arches, 3 Knot Grass, 2 Angle-barred Pugs, a Red Twin-spot Carpet, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet, 17 Muslins, Small Waved Umber, 3 Yellow Belles, 3 Pine Beauties, Hebrew Character, Waved Umber, female Emperor, 4 White Ermine, 7 Cinnabar, Nut-tree Tussock, 2 Chocolate Tip, Puss Moth, 4 Treble Lines, 2 Flame Shoulders, Purple Bar, Pebble Prominent, Vine's Rustic, Swallow Prominent, Lunar Marbled Brown and Common Wave. 

Butterflies included Small Copper, Green Hairstreak, Small Heath, Orange Tip and Wall Brown. A Blue-tailed Damselfly was at the pond.
