ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 26th June 2022

On the sea today 60 Common Scoter, 2 Little Terns and 60+ Sandwich Terns were seen, with 5 Chiffchaffs, 3 Blackcaps, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 4 Whitethroats and 5 Sedge Warblers counted and at least 3 Stonechats along the east bank.

The moth traps produced a Dagger sp, Elephant Hawk Moth, 3 Riband Waves, Dark Arches, Bright-line Brown-eye, Common Footman, 3 Sand Darts, Rosy Footman, Bordered White, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, Barred Straw, Privet Hawk, Poplar Grey, Pine Hawk, 2 Buff Ermines, Cinnabar, Single Dotted Wave, Swallowtail, 3 Rustic, Buff Tip, 2 Smoky Wainscots, 2 Mottled Rustics, 2 Uncertain, Lyme Grass, Striped Wainscot, Peppered Moth, Flame, Dwarf Cream Wave, Double Square-spot, Spectacle and Short-cloaked Moth.

Three Black-tailed Skimmers were around the reserve with Ringlet, Meadow Brown, Red Admiral and Comma were among the butterflies seen.
