Holme Bird Observatory Friday 22nd July 2022

An Osprey flew high west along the dunes at approx 2pm. A Greenshank and 6 Black-tailed Godwits were around the Broadwater and a Peregrine was hunting. A Whimbrel was flying over and offshore 6 Sandwich Terns, 2 Common Terns and 2 Little Terns were recorded offshore.

Moth traps produced a good catch with species including 7 Scarce Footmen, Small Blood-vein, 2 White-line Darts, 2 Lyme Grass, 4 Sharp-angled Peacocks, 7 Garden Tigers, 3 Dingy Footmen, 9 Ruby Tigers, 7 Drinkers, 3 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, Straw Dot, Snout, 9 Single Dotted Waves, 6 Turnips, 3 Oak Eggars, 22 Rustics, 7 Cloaked Minors, Bright-line Brown Eye, 5 Large Yellow Underwing, 2 Chinese Characters, 13 Shuttle-shaped Darts, Nutmeg, 3 Yellow Tails, 8 Uncertain, 5 Dark Arches, White Point, 7 Common Rustics, Buff Ermine, 2 Common Footmen, 3 Least Carpets, Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 6 Rosy Footmen, Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Smoky Wainscots, 2 Dusky Swallows, Flame Shoulder, 3 Shaded Broad-bar, Red Twin-spot Carpet, Small Waved Umber, Pine Hawk, 2 Rosy Minor, 2 Archer's Darts, 2 Latticed Heaths, Bordered Straw, Willow Beauty, 2 Fen Waincots, Early Thorn, and Small Dotted Buff.
