ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 24th July 2022

On the sea today 5 Common Scoter, a single Fulmar, 3 Little Terns,  4 Sandwich Terns and 2 Med Gulls were counted, with 2 Sand Martins passing through. A Spoonbill flew east.

Moths were less numerous today but a Small Fan-footed Wave, 6 Garden Tigers, Scarce Footman, Uncertain, Small Waved Umber, Small Square Spot, 11 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 24 Common Rustics, 26 Rustics, Yellow-tail, Sharp-angled Peacock, 2 Drinkers, Pine Hawk Moth, 2 Dusky Sallow, 16 Shuttle-shaped Darts, Least Carpet, 6 Least Yellow Underwings, Mouse Moth, Cloaked Minor, Spectacle, Buff Ermine, Oak Eggar, Brown-line Bright-eye, 2 Archer's Darts, Dingy Footman, 9 Large Yellow Underwings, Shaded Broad-bar, Ruby Tiger, Pale Prominent, 2 Rosy Minros, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Brown-veined Wainscot, 5 White-lined Darts, 2 Flame Shoulders, 4 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 2 Dark Arches, Nutmeg, Colon, 5 Turnips, Lyme Grass and a Southern Wainscot were recorded.

An Emperor Dragonfly and 5 Migrant Hawkers were also of interest.
